PR-COIN Receives Telemedicine Grant from Pfizer

PR-COIN recently secured a grant from Pfizer aimed at improving delivery of telemedicine. PR-COIN’s project specifically is to improve the delivery of virtual care to patients with JIA through optimization of standard elements of telemedicine visits. The project will focus on the education of pediatric rheumatology healthcare providers, patients, and families.

The patient reported outcome measures (PROMs) used during in-person visits will be optimized for the virtual setting. The project will also look at optimizing Video pGALS (pediatric gait, arms, legs and spine) as a proxy for active joint count in a virtual setting.

Outcomes of the project will include a change packet with educational materials on best practices for telemedicine visits.

Drs. Hayward (Seattle Children’s) and Toth (Nemours), and Senior Research Associate Dr. Goh (SickKids) will be leading the work along with parent research partners Laura Curtis and Jenny Leal.
