OVERVIEW

We want patients and families to stay connected and work closely with our network.

What is PR-COIN?

The Pediatric Rheumatology Care and Outcomes Improvement Network (PR-COIN) is a group of pediatric rheumatology clinics working together to improve care for children with rheumatic conditions, initially focusing on juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA).  While medication and treatment methods have improved over the years, doctors are still working hard to find the very best JIA treatment options. By sharing information and best practices, PR-COIN clinicians are able to reduce pain, improve joint function, and so much more!

How Can Parents of Children with JIA be a Part of PR-COIN?

You and your child have seen JIA's impact first-hand and have a wealth of knowledge.  PR-COIN wants to learn from you!  Families are the ones living the reality of JIA.  Parents know their children best, so PR-COIN teams tap into the parent perspective by engaging families in their improvement work.  Ask your rheumatologist how you might help improve the care they deliver.

PR-COIN also has a Parent Working Group who advise and actively participate in PR-COIN activities since they understand what's most important to JIA families and patients. Contact the PR-COIN Parent Working Group to learn how you can make a difference!

Is Your Rheumatology Clinic in PR-COIN?

All pediatric rheumatology clinics are welcome to join PR-COIN.  Check out the Teams page to see if your clinic is participating.  PR-COIN would love to talk to your Rheumatologist about how their hospital and their patients can benefit from joining PR-COIN!

Can Your Child Be Part of PR-COIN?

All children with JIA are welcome to be a part of PR-COIN, but your clinic must be a participating member.  Families must sign a permission form allowing their clinic to enter details about their child’s health and care into PR-COIN's secure database for research purposes. Being a part of PR-COIN will not result in additional costs, clinic visits, lab draws, medicines, or forms.

“As a parent, just knowing that my input can help ALL children with JIA achieve better outcomes makes my involvement in PR-COIN worthwhile. I truly enjoy working with the network. It makes me feel empowered, appreciated, and honored to be a part of this work.”
