Meet Dr. Tzielan Lee!
Dr. Tzielan Lee is a Pediatric Rheumatologist at Stanford Children's Health, and the site primary investigator for PR-COIN. She is also a clinical informaticist and Chair of the Informatics committee for PR-COIN.
She has been trying to make small differences in the workflow at her clinic and improvements in patients' lives. “We identified that we had a very slow medication authorization process which impacted patients' ability to get their medications in a timely manner,” she said. “We came up with a workflow that was more direct and help decrease our authorization turnaround time.” They were able to create the workflow for ordering medication using PR-COIN tools. By starting the process earlier, they improved the turnaround time from 25 days to 5.6 days.
Dr. Lee appreciates PR-COIN as a group that she can share ideas with and improve care for patients in a meaningful way. “I think they are a really supportive group, so it’s been easy to work with everyone. And everyone is aligned in their vision of what they want out of group.”
She finds this unique perspective helps to create a collaborative atmosphere and is hopeful for PR-COIN’s future. She looks forward to seeing the network continue to improve care, bring more sites in, and make workflows more efficient.
